Candlesticks

Hey folks! I know, I haven't posted in ages. The class that I strongly dislike teaching ended and then there was grading to do. The class I enjoy teaching started last night so there was prep. to do for that. I also took a break during spring break to visit the brother and sister-in-law. I don't know how long it's been since I actually took a break during spring break. Because I'm staff and not faculty I don't get time off between classes or summers off. If the school is open then I'm here. This, however, is what vacation time is for.

Oddly enough, my parents decided to visit my brother at about the same time so I got to see them too and my brother and s-i-l got to play host to far more folks than they probably would like. But it was nice to spend some time with just the brother. We went to Walden Pond and lots of Salvation Army stores. I bought far more than I should have and ended up having to ship a box of stuff back because I didn't have any extra space for packing breakables.

Someday I may get my act together enough to share what I found there. But for now, candlesticks. Milk glass candlesticks, which are hard to find. They don't match. Once upon a time I had a matching pair but then crazy Leo decided he needed to jump on top of the china cabinet and knock down a massive frame. The frame took out of the candlesticks and the glass from the frame and the candlestick shattered into lots of little pieces. So now I pretend that nothing was meant to match. Instead, we are eclectic and artsy!

Impossible

I think it might not be possible to have too many saucers and cups. I have... well, I have many. It is hard to get rid of them mostly because some are chosen for their aesthetic qualities rather than their practicality. Others (mugs) are chosen because they have larger handles and hold more liquid.

These I could not pass up. They are gorgeous.

Happy Thrifting Thursday everyone!
It's the last night of class for the course I dislike teaching. I cannot wait for it to be over. And to get a break from the all-consuming, life-sucking task that is teaching this class. I'm going to visit the brother and sister-in-law for a little bit. Hooray for actually taking a break during spring break!
