No. 3

Guess what I get to do Tuesday morning? Go on, just guess.

If you were thinking "Hannita gets to drop off her car to get the driver side mirror repaired because someone had taken it off while she was at work yesterday" well, you would be right. And really spooky amazing.

Yes, some jerk hit my mirror and now it's just dangling off the side. It's very sad. So I have to drop it off, get a rental while it's being fixed, all that awesome stuff.

I'm considering this #3. That's it. No more bad car stuff for a while.
No. 1 was getting hit by a truck cast off on Good Friday. The chip has now spread to an enormous crack over half of my windshield. I do have glass coverage so I'm hoping to get this taken care of soon.
No. 2 was my little fender bender last week. Was it last week? Maybe the week before.

one of those days

yesterday was one of those days when i should have never opened my mouth. you know those days? yesterday i said something not nice about almost every person i know or work with.
no, life is not ideal.
no, my co-workers aren't perfect.
no, they don't deserve that from me.

In the two six

Yesterday we pretended it was August. It was almost 90. I haven't prepared for the hot weather yet. Fans aren't even in the windows, much less the air conditioner. Side note - I sewed a new curtain for my bedroom on Saturday. The window where the air conditioner usually goes. I don't know that it was the best fabric decision I've ever made. But it was nice to be sewing again. And it's nice to have a curtain that isn't spotted with paint from the last ceiling repair job.

After church I went to the beach. I was not alone.
And that is why I love Chicago

Amusement

Tonight this amused me:Last night John Darnielle, lead man for the Mountain Goats amused me.

Today at work was not so amusing. We're in our yearly planning meetings today and Thursday. Good times. I do generally like the people that I work with. It can just sometimes be really tedious. You understand, I'm sure.

Well dressed children

Baby shower from this weekend. They are lovely people with beautiful hearts. Doesn't she have the best smile? One stitched and two freezer paper stenciled onesies. Yes, that is the X-files X. He's a fan and they are both a bit geeky, hence the robot. Plus two books I found thrifting - Anne Lamott's Operating Instructions and a user manual for babies. I love Operating Instructions and I love to pass along her books.

And again...

Well, it's been a while since my last car accident so I guess I was due. This morning on my way to work a woman turns left in front of me. I tried to stop but it was raining. That's one of the worst feelings in the world - knowing that you're going to crash and not being able to stop it.

I'm OK for the most part. My car seems OK for the most part, certainly drivable. I just seem to have more than my fair share of accidents that aren't my fault. I'm a good driver so I don't understand.

Hello and Good-bye

Did I mention I had to re-file my taxes? I thought I was all set sending them in in the middle of February. Except that I waited and waited. And waited some more. Finally I called and there was no record of it being sent. So I mailed them again. It took about a week for the money to show up.

I had grand plans for how I was going to spend this money. Computer. New computer monitor. Savings. Paying off some of my credit card debt. Camera lens. Red lipstick. Haircut at somewhere fancier than Supercuts and perhaps some direction in how one actually styles hair. (I always get the feeling that I missed the week in school when girls learned how to fix their hair. I never know what to do with it.)

Well, the money (the largest tax return I've ever had but smaller than many folks' returns) is gone. And I did spend it on some of the above. I expect my new camera lens to arrive Monday. Today if I'm really lucky. And I dropped about $100 on new makeup, including some red lipstick. And sent some to my savings account. Less than I should have probably. But I think my new lens and I are going to be great friends.

I can just pull my hair back in a ponytail, right?

And then there were two

This morning I squealed and spilled a little water as I jumped up and down when I saw three fuzzy yellow goslings tripping around on the back patio of the building where I work. Oh, and dad, who seemed to be MIA the past week, had suddenly reappeared.

But then this afternoon there were only two little bundles of fuzz. It was really windy and I'm worried that one of them got too close to edge of the patio and got blown off. The patio is pretty far up from the ground. It's not near the water and from my research goslings are not fed by their parents like lots of other birds. They are immediately into the water and feed themselves. I put a big bowl of water out for them because I don't even know how they would drink and it's pretty warm out there right now.

I hope all four of them are there in the morning.

Also, I've been trying to commit somewhat to the church thing. I visited a small group two weeks ago. And I might visit another one this week. I'm still feeling very commitment phobic.

My nights are punctuated by the sounds of construction happening on the train tracks outside my window. Up to this point it's not been too bad but tonight seems worse.

And would someone out there tell me to stop trolling the animal shelter websites looking at dogs? Please. I'm begging you.
Thanks.
