A friend of mine from college (we sang together) is a doctor and is doing his second stint with Mercy Ships. This time he is in Benin for six weeks. They've done screening and scheduled surgeries. He has a blog describing his time there and it's amazing. Take some time to read, spend some time looking at pictures. It's heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
Mercy Ships is a Christian organization that has hospital ships that travel and dock in various places and provides medical care and education for people who would not normally receive it. They do good work.
